I really liked this book. It had a bit of everything. A good romance where you actually see the heroine and hero fall in love. They talk about things. They share funny moments together. The hero was hilarious. He's an extremely old and powerful dragon. So he doesn't really understand humans. At all. He says the funniest things. I also liked how the heroine stood up for herself and was not a doormat. She told the dragon when she didn't like something and didn't let him get away with things. If you I really liked this book. I felt like there were still details we needed to know. The story ended in kind of a weird place. Things were left unfinished. Not a cliffhanger or anything, just ended too soon.

The Dragon's Appraiser, which can be found in the Taming the Alpha box set, is a new riff on on the old trope of the maiden being sacrificed to satisfy a dragon. In this one, the twist is that Madja O'aer is the daughter of an appraiser, and as such, knowledgeable about the many artifacts in his ginormous hoard. I found the dialogue between Severrn; a world-weary and almighty dragon god, and Madja cute as hell, and his superior "logic" was adorable. He may be the most powerful dragon in existence, but he has yet to fall prey to the lowly desires of the flesh with a mere mortal... Oh, dear... My favorite moment was definitely when he asked her to appraise his body... and all the events that unfolded after said appraisal. He acted like a true dragon should; with insatiable greed;-)So adorable & funny. And of course, when a dragon recieves a tribute, he never lets it go. Especially when said object becomes his most treasured possession. Very cute, goofy story. 4.5 stars.

3 Stars. This could have been a 4 star read, but it ended rather abruptly, leaving unresolved plot points. I enjoyed the overall idea that the Hero was a ancient dragon that could assume human form, rather than a dragon shifter. I enjoyed his POV and was happy that the author did not try to make him into a human. As a dragon, he definitely thought differently than a human. No frame of reference for many situations and emotions, no moral compass.

Loved it. A light comedy of a sarcastic appraiser who fascinates a dragon shifter named Sevrrn. They come to know one another and talk a lot. She knows he likes her and the feeling is mutual but will they act on it... Guess you need to read it find out now don't you!

Light, funny, and captures your attention throughout. A lovely way to pass the time on the commutte. And interesting enough to make me look for other titles of the same author.
