Must read history Music history gave me insights I never realized before. Starting with descriptions of home instruments, simple drums, and go vocalizations to pass down traditions and histories music was part of the cave men's legacy. Each progression is shared along with the social, emotional, and even political responses. I gained so much knowledge from this well written book. All lovers of music should read this book.

Music history is a book written for an audience that wishes to discover the truth about its history. It is an excellent book, in my opinion, for music teachers, music institutes and universities that teach music as an introduction to their pupils Besides covering the history of modern music, classical, jazz, and rock music; this book also educates you in what electronic music means, where pop music originated from and what moral, emotional, political, and cultural impact music has on humans.

Two and a half stars Very limited explanations and perhaps people should realize that people all over the world had instruments and made music through out history without pythagerus in Greece we had instruments since before the Flood some stringed and some wind

Interesting musical history lessons! This book was very interesting and although I knew quite a bit about the history of classical, jazz, blues, rock, and pop, I did learn many facts about prehistoric instruments and folk music in various countries. I especially liked the sections that detailed why and how music is so inspiring. We often turn on music and instantly feel some kind of emotion, depending on what the music is and how we connect to it. I think we often take the power of music for granted. This book reminded me to be so appreciative of music and it's ability to be uplifting, nostalgic, beautiful, and motivating. I recommend this book to young adults who may not be fully aware of the history of music, so they can, too, appreciate how much music has evolved and how older music has paved the way for the modern melodies. This book is also great for any music lovers out there.
