The run leading up to this volume has been really good. However, several character arcs spinning in interesting directions seem to have been pulled back towards the status quo in this book and some of it felt rather abrupt.

I enjoyed this. We got the wrap up to the whole "Colony" storyline and the story behind the future Robin timeline as we figure out what really happened to Tim in the future. I normally find these type of sci-fi time travel stories a little out of place in Batman, but here it worked. There's also a one shot featuring Deacon Blackfire, the villain of the classic Batman "The Cult" series. The Cult remains one of my favorite Batman stories ever as it has Berni Wrightson art (my favorite artist) and I enjoyed this. Overall a strong volume, and it shows just how versatile the Batman character can be.

An adequate ending to this hidden gem of a Batman run. Very groundbreaking work on the idea if the Bat-family as well as the emotions of the superhero world. It falls a little short by being a rushed story but it's still an enjoyable one. We get an interesting look at the aftermath of Batwoman's decision. I loved the families meeting in the cave. I think were everything sort of comes undone is the introduction of Ulysses Armstrong as the final villain. It was an interesting story that really shows all the history that was lost with the New 52 reboot.

James Tynion IV's Detective Comics run concludes in this succinct deluxe hardcover. Tynion ties up the majority of the plots he first began introducing back with issue #1. Overall I found the concluding story arcs to be satisfying but not groundbreaking. While Tynion's effective use of the larger BatFamily remains the strength of this series, I found myself getting a bit tired of Batwoman and the Colony. He will be taking over the main Batman book soon and I look forward to seeing how he builds on this run within the larger Batman universe.

For a while there, I wasn’t sure where James Tynion was going with this, but he really stuck the landing in the most wonderful way. I love how Tim and Stephanie come together at the end. I also love where he takes Kate Kane in this story. So much great work with these characters in here. Even Batman seems to evolve, which is rare for someone like him.

Once you get past the notion of a major character being twisted (which requires a big suspension of disbelief), it's a very solid read.
