Salt & Stone is a continuation of the Elemental Origins Series by award winning and USA Today Bestselling Author, A.L.Knorr. The Siren's Curse Series is best enjoyed if readers have read Born of Water and/or The Elementals. INTERVIEW WITH THE AUTHOR: Q: What makes your writing special and different?A: I write cuss-free, no on-page sex fantasy stories featuring strong female protagonists, and themes of love, friendship, the environment (because its something I care deeply about), while delivering a fast-paced adventure. I’ve been told my writing is very cinematic and that readers can watch it play out on the screen of their mind in full-colour as they read. My Elemental Origins Series is non-linear, meaning it doesn’t have to be read starting at book 1, you can pick up any of the first 5 books and dive in because they all take place simultaneously.I believe its an authors job in today’s world to nurture empathy, help the reader live another life and feel what its like to be in someone else’s shoes. I try to write as believable a fantasy world as possible, with characters who value life and care for one another. My antagonists are often somewhat faceless for part of the story, providing mystery, and they are also not ‘just bad guys’, they’re people with their own world view one might understand, even if you don’t agree with it. Most of all, I just want to tell a great story and make readers feel something - I’m told I do a good job at that. Q: Aside from Salt & Stone, what other books do you write, and what order should I read them in? A: I also write the bestselling Elemental Origins Series that chronicles Targa and 4 other girls as they venture beyond the borders of their Canadian home and experience transformational supernatural summer adventures. I recommend reading Born of Water before reading Salt & Stone. If you like Melissa Meyer, Tamora Pierce, Leia Stone, Jaymin Eve, Cassandra Clare, Lauren Kate, Stephenie Meyer, Becca Fitzpatrick, or Michelle Madow, you will LOVE AL Knorr’s storytelling! A.L.

Can Targa protect the secrets of her people, or will her attempt at a double life take everything she loves away? What a beautiful start to a new series. So much intrigue. So many surprising twists from the standard mermaid stories, but I’m not going to mention any spoilers. Targa's story continues, as heiress to the Polish mansion and fortune. In this installment of Targa's journey there are certainly a few twists. You think you've figured out where the story is going and then bam! Surprise. Can't wait to see what happens next! Highly Recommend!

I loved A.L.Knorr’s Elemental Origins series and went into literary withdrawal when it ended. No surprise then that I was overjoyed to find that the author has come out with a new series, The Siren's Curse, that takes off from that series. Salt & Stone is the first book in that series. It’s great fun to follow its leads Targa and Antoni as the author puts them through their adventure in this well written story with its strong plot and story arc beginnings. For maximum enjoyment of this new series, the Elemental Origins series should be read first. It’s not an absolute need, however, though at minimum I think reading at least Born of Water (and really both that and The Elementals) is (are) really essential as a precursor. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

Targa is a compelling character in her own right, someone anyone can be inspired by. I don't want to give any secrets away about this book so just trust me, this is a captivating series. I know- I read the whole book in the past 12 hours, regardless of the fact that I was at work most of that time, then came home to my children for dinner, chores, homework and several hours of extra curricular activities I help manage....

It was somewhere between harrowing and breathless. I can honestly say that any reader who has read this author’s previous books of The Elementals, i.e., Born of Water, or Mira’s Return, would most likely enjoy reading this book just as much as I did. Highly recommended.

Amazing Author - easily rates in my top 3 A.L. Knorr has an amazing gift for telling stories and continuing the stories without the sequels falling flat. It is truly a gift to be able to work in the details right from the beginning that really make the later book in the series/world so fascinating and enjoyable. There were a few grammatical errors but not too terrible. I wanted to give this a 4.5 but there wasn't an option so a 4 it is. The prologue was too much with not enough information, a very huge cliffhanger and a little confusing so I can't wait to delve into the next story.

I have long admired Ms Knorr's work. Her elemental series was both wide ranging and riveting, bringing together a group of friends who faced unexpected dangers when all they wanted to do was finish school. I must admit though, that of all the wonderful characters she introduced, Targa, spoke to me as none of the others did. So as you might imagine I was delighted to read Targa and Mira's story renewed as they embark on their new life in Poland. I read the entire elemental series and this spin-off in 3 days. I absolutely love the world and the voice the author speaks with. A.L. Knorr continues the story of Targa, the siren and water elemental introduced in Born of Water. As Targa moves to Poland and begins her metaphorical transition to adulthood, Knorr weaves a tale that challenges both the human and fantastical elements of our heroine. A plot full of twists and turns engages the reader throughout while impressing them with with the depth and breadth of her universe. A series to go to top of your TBR pile.

This book was awesome! Loved it, and I’m so glad the story has grown like it has. The Elementals’ stories were great and I was sad when they were over so the continuation of Targa’s story is greater than the originals. I feel more connected to the characters now and even more invested in their stories and futures. The extra lore and development of other underworld civilizations is a lot of fun. I cannot wait until the next book!

Salt and Stone is a very well written story. I think it is my new favorite in this series. It has a good amount of mystery and intrigue. Whenever I thought I had something figured out I was surprised with the real answer. I loved diving back into Targa and Mira’s world again. Their journey to discover secrets long forgotten was a bit emotional. I definitely shedded a few tears. The ending left me smiling but also super curious. I can’t wait to hear more of Mira’s tale.

I received this book for free and I am giving my honest and voluntary review of it. Enthusiastic storytelling where water meets land and who knows after that. Mermaids and others trying to help each other. A old ship that sunk years ago and had the treasures stripped out of it. Who does it belong to?? Targa and her mother was in charge of something they really didn't want. Good reading.

Solid The story starts off well and picks up right where Elemental Origins left off. The mystery is intriguing and enticing, and Georgie’s appearance is very welcome. But the second half of the book falls away. Too many concepts are introduced at once and the ending is highly predictable and contrived.

Splendid! Now mind you there was pieces missing, but all explained the reason for this was for a book of the "Elementals" about Targa & her friends.
