Only after I'd finished reading this novella, did I discover that it was actually number two in a series, and that changed my perception a little bit. Specifically; I wasn't quite so outraged on Grant's behalf. He's not a saint either. But still... Normally, I wouldn't have bothered with this type of story, but it was an Eve Langlais and it was free, so I figured why not? Grant is a CEO; assertive, dominant - except when it comes to Isabelle. Normally, I wouldn't have bothered with this type of story, but it was an Eve Langlais and it was free, so I figured why not? Grant is a CEO; assertive, dominant - except when it comes to Isabelle. She's effectively turned him into a man who likes to worship at her altair - as a submissive. His boundaries are constantly being pushed, and there's a reason why... His mistress has a secret she's not ready to divulge yet. Not only does she have a naughty secret, she also has another (view spoiler)[ man; a master and they both want a third to join them in their very own dungeon games. (hide spoiler)] Eve Langlais is practically an auto-buy for me, and while not all her novels are great, I've always been entertained. For the first time, one of her books has got aspects I'm not happy with. There are certain underhanded aspects in this book that bothered me. She - they - are being deliberately underhanded. I just think it would have been more honest and healthy for Grant and Isabelle's relationship, had she expressed her desires from the get go. Communication is key, not temptation. Furthermore, I was not too pleased with the "do as I say or this relationship is over right now" discussion. WTH? That's a nasty way to toy with someone's emotions. I'm all for pushing boundaries, but this particular story didn't push the right buttons, for me at least. And while Grant in the end is "fine" with it, I'm not buying it. Grant is described as the jealous type (albeit with certain secret fantasies they both share) & it feels out of character for him to accept that (view spoiler)[ Isabelle's master entually will want to drill his man-hole... (hide spoiler)] Even more troublesome, I get the feeling Isabella would pick (view spoiler)[ her master if they made her choose between them. Which is fine if Grant knew about Andrew from the start, but he didn't. (hide spoiler)] Bottom line, I'm glad both stories were free, because for me, they were not what I have come to expect - and want - from a Langlais book. 2.75 stars.

You know it's bad when you start skimming through the last couple of chapters in a less that 15000 word novella. This was just straight up boring.

Again, not one of my favorite books by Eve Langlais, but it did have some seriously steamy moments. Part of me was weirded out by how Isabelle demands Grant's trust without giving him much to base that trust on. But, hey, dude's giving into their darker (and, in their eyes, shameful) desires kinda worked. So, there you go. -Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal Again, not one of my favorite books by Eve Langlais, but it did have some seriously steamy moments. We discovered at the end of the last book "My Secretary, My Mistress" the bratty dominatrix is actually a switch who is preparing a new submissive for her master's fantasy. Like the other book, this one suffers from poor editing - Ms. Langlais wrote this early in her career and even through it was reedited after it came back from the initial publisher, the problems still show through. The dominant still continues to ignore the submissive when he says he is uncomfortable with a scene or is not ready yet. She threatens removal of the relationship half-way through training rather than discussing his concerns or dealing with his jealousy. While she doesn't continue the life-threatening behavior found in the first book, she treats (and since we get her point of view, thinks of) Gary as a less-than-human slave rather than a beloved pet. Another reviewer pointed out the exclusivity of the relationship is never defined, which, I am given to understand, is essential in the BDSM. While this book is a fictional BDSM, many of the behaviors laid out out never be accepted in the real-world - if one of the characters was an elf, I would rate this higher as it would remove it from our world and our rules. World-building for a contemporary romance or erotica requires basic rules of society to be followed; just like we would blanch if a police officer arrested people without "reading them their rights" or a person merrily going to another country without a passport, having the BDSM rules broken in this story makes it unreal. If writing a fantasy BDSM, then may as well take it all the way and put in fantasy characters so we know this world is not our world. Finally, the series is clearly written for a book three where the submissive finishes his training and we get to see the submissive, switch, and dominant in a menage. But either Ms. Langlais did not get that book back from the publisher yet or the publisher cut off the contract before publishing the third and so it was never written. So the ending is a disappointment - an implied happily ever after (HEA), but no real resolution. Picked up free from Kindle.

First off, I think this should have been a story on its own (read my review for part one to understand). To quote; "I didn't realize we were exclusive." WTF? I must have been reading the wrong part one...oh, wait, the ENTIRE STORY doesn't make sense, regarding the most fundamental thing! Total plot fall! Total plot fall! Isabelle should've been honest from the beginning with Grant (it is like BDSM rule number ONE). But thus again it makes this second part -to me - feel like an afterthought and it even has an entirely different feel. To get back to the honesty...the irony is that there is a mention of trust, but again for Isabelle's sake, not Grant's. But this entire thing was just eh. With that said, to tie in with part one; the flashback pieces, the now pieces and what you read further into the part, it all just fails. It fails to give enough info for most things to make proper sense, it fails to make me want to love it more as it doesn't feel like care was taken and it fails to keep me liking it, as it becomes just about that last F. Which you don't even get to read as it all just rushes to get to an ending. The Club I liked The characters just fail. To tie it up, I'm totally for the soft and sensual of part one and the rough and dirty of part two, but with this it just didn't work, but could if more care is given to the story as a whole. After note: I'm shocked to find that it is a bestselling author's work...

I was hoping we'd get to "the goal" in this one, but there will apparently be at least one more. This one was more about pushing Grant's boundaries even further. Isabel tells Grant that he can't come over on the night it's normally understood is his. He gets suspicious, stakes out her house, and ends up following her to her destination, which ends up being a BDSM club. Isabel is shocked he followed her, but decides to take advantage, to show him more of what she wants from him. Punishments are doled out, people get their jollies, and Isabel is able to get Grant past one more barrier. But still "the goal" has not been reached. Isabel gets one fantasy fulfilled in this book and sets up the second one right at the end. But neither of these is "the goal". It was interesting. Maybe I'm just losing interest in Grant. I think I prefer my men alpha. Grant seems so needy and clingy. Isabel seems cruel at times. I'm not into humiliating your partner, but Isabel seems to relish in it as a way to break down Grant's defenses. But I'll still have to read the next one, because I want to see how it all works out. I'm curious like that, lol!

Got this one as a freebie from the ever talented Eve Langlais. Once again she didn't dissapoint. This was a good quick, steamy read. If your looking for something with kink but not much time on your hands, this is the book for you. This book is hot! Not my normal type of reading, but i did enjoy it and got a kick from it. Looking forward to book 2. Unlike most BDSM books, the roles in this have changed. It's the mistress who demands submission from her boss. And he is more than happy to submit.

The title is fitting. The fantasy was all hers and if her submissive wanted to remain hers he had very little say in the matter. But of course he ended up liking what happened. I recommend this story to people who enjoy reading about females switches, a plot with copious amounts of backdoor play, both male and female, and a woman getting to play out her fantasy (view spoiler)[pegging (hide spoiler)] The title is fitting. I was hoping we'd get to "the goal" in this one, but there will apparently be at least one more. Holy mother of GAWD the first book had me practically panting and wetting my panties, this one, well I won’t tell you if it will do the same cus that would ruin it for you. I loved how the relationship between Isabelle and Grant became more intense and trusting.

This novel thus far was the best one. I loved how the relationship between Isabelle and Grant became more intense and trusting. I almost died at the ending of the book, since there is no third novel listed on goodreads. Oh my!
